MCA Consultants was responsible for the overall waste management system from design and development to implementation and monitoring. Our services included management of C&D material; equipment design, development, and installation; budget development; solid waste & recycling education and outreach programs, site plan review and services for restaurants, theaters, retail establishments, residential apartments and townhomes, and all common areas.
MCA Consultants performed operational site analysis and efficiency studies for solid waste and recycling operations for retail outlets, restaurants, and large retail establishments. A review of equipment needs and uses were conducted and existing contractual agreements were evaluated for efficiency.
A mixed use development encompassing 672,500 square feet of high-end retail, restaurant and entertainment space; 65,000 square feet of office space; 622 housing units; and a 214 room hotel, all within a 42-acre development site, MCA Consultants was responsible for the entire waste management system from the project's inception. In addition to the development of the initial comprehensive waste management plan, we incorporated a future expansion plan into the closed-loop system of recycling and waste management. The design, development, and installation of site collection and processing equipment was also an integral part of our services, and when combined with our integrated education and outreach program, the entire system was developed with development and operational budgetary parameters.
For this project MCA Consultants performed the initial feasibility study for the development's solid waste and recycling system and was responsible for the development of preliminary site plans relative to collection, disposal, and transference of solid waste and recycling materials. As part of the feasibility analysis, waste stream profiles and budgetary parameters, including collection, disposal and fee analysis of potential tenants, were examined, and waste stream specific budgets were created for planning and development of tenant configurations.
At the request of Federal Realty Investment Trust, MCA conducted a complete review and analysis of this neighborhood shopping center relative to the environmental aspects of recycling and waste management. As part of the systematic review, operational conditions were evaluated and corrective measures were developed and introduced in order to increase the efficient operational dynamics of the site. Cost savings and fee reduction programs were incorporated into the operational budget to increase efficiencies and lower costs to tenants.
Under contract with Equity Residential Management, L.L.C., MCA Consultants was contracted to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the solid waste and recycling situation at Fort Lewis. During the Phase 1 plan, our feasibility study covered essential areas such as residential and multifamily housing, demolition and construction of existing areas, and feasibility of proper environmental management of an entire solid waste management system as well as collection and disposal practices of each.
